H2O!
Well, we can finally drink our well water. Not even the Berkey was getting out everything. It was better, but still had a funky taste and smell. So, Randy found this Filtrete faucet water system - professional filtration at Lowes. I have no idea how it works. I can't really find any details on it. It's relatively new. It's not perfect either. Now we run the water through this new filter, then pour it in the Berkey. It's better than lugging 5 gal bottles to and from the store to get drinkable water. I don't know what the problem is with our water. It could be a number of things. It doesn't matter. Fixing it would be more expensive. I'm sure the Berkey will be fine for rain catchment later, when we get set up in Texas.

Have you bleached the well? This usually takes care of the funky tastes and odors.
No, not yet. I doubt Randy will let me bleach the well, but we have some bleach to drip into the water before we pour it into the Berkey. Of course, we haven't done it yet. I'm pretty sure part of the problem is the pipes in the house or the holding tank. The one in the well is pvc. It's really hard water too. I'm pretty sick of dealing with it.
